10 Small Business Sustainable, Natural Beauty Brands You Can Support in 2020

Shop at 10 sustainable and natural beauty brands on Amazon. Small businesses are struggling to stay open due to the global Corona Virus Pandemic.  This year, now more than ever, they need your support, especially those that are in the sustainable sector.  Therefore, below you will find a list of 10 sustainable and natural beauty brands you can buy on Amazon to support small businesses especially for Earth Day 2020.

When is Earth Day?

Earth Day will be on April 22, 2020.  It is a special year because it marks 50 years since Earth Day first started.  The event first started in 1970 to raise awareness about the impact that our activities are having on the Environment.  Since then, Earth Day has become a global event where over 190 countries take part.

How can we take part in Earth Day?

The Day is co-ordinated and often celebrated in two ways; one where people partake in gatherings and two by making simple lifestyle changes.  This year, gatherings are not expected to take place, but making simple lifestyle changes for even a day will act as your contribution towards the bigger and collective goal to protect the environment.  For example, you can support Earth Day in one or more ways this week:

  1. Shop for low waste items such as plastic free fruits and vegetables
  2. Opt for sustainable and natural skincare products such as the ones listed in this post
  3. Switch to reusable water bottles & on the go coffee mugs
  4. Switch off digital gadgets for the day
  5. Use less water in the shower
  6. Grow some of your own vegetables in the garden.  It’s a fun way to get kids interested in gardening.
  7. Donate to plant a tree

I wrote the challenge me green post earlier this year, have a look for many more ideas of how you partake in to support Earth Day 2020.

Natural Skincare Products on Amazon

Back to the 10 sustainable & natural beauty brands on Amazon

In order for a skincare or beauty brand to be classed as sustainable, there is a criteria that I look for on each brand.  Since not all sustainable and natural beauty brands will meet all of the criteria to be an eco friendly brand, I give them a star rating based on efforts made to be sustainable.

Below is the breakdown that you should look for when you are shopping for a sustainable and natural beauty brand or product in the future:

  1. Does the brand or product use natural, organic and/or ethically sourced ingredients?
  2. Is it vegan/plant based?
  3. Is it palm oil free or from sustainable plantations?
  4. Does it have Cruelty-free certification?
  5. Can I recycle or reuse the packaging – low waste/recyclable packaging?

Although most of this information will be readily available on the brands’ website, sometimes you have to dig a bit deeper on the site to find it.

My last criteria is availability of the product, because there is no point in researching them if you cannot buy them.  Therefore, the list of brands below are readily to buy on Amazon and LoveLula.

Finally about sustainable and natural beauty brands..

The sustainable beauty industry has been on the rise over the last 5 years. The current crisis could have a devastating impact on a much needed industry. Please support these businesses in order to ensure that we can collectively protect the environment, ensure fair wages for people at the bottom on the supply chain and promote our expectation of ethically sourced and plant based ingredients.
