Kiwi facemask

Have you ever tried making a kiwifruit facemask? The next time you have a piece of kiwifruit that is destined for the bin, think about how you can extend its benefits to soothe your skin.

Health Benefits of Kiwifruit

We know how beneficial kiwifruit is to our bodies. Kiwifruits, a native of New Zealand, are linked to numerous health benefits. The fruit is packed with vitamin C, vitamin E and antioxidants that are great for a healthy skin.

Kiwi is also linked to boost collagen development and help fight acne. Of course, the maximum benefits of the fruit are gained when you eat it. However, how many times have you bought a punnet of the fruit, then thrown a piece or two in the bin?

Therefore, if you are someone who loves kiwi, but known to throw some away, then the recipe below will give you one more reason to keep the fruit a little longer.

Benefits of a Kiwifruit Facemask using Yogurt

Whist the kiwifruit boasts lots of health benefits, there are numerous benefits of natural yogurt. For example, natural yogurt is rich in Calcium, lactic acid and a good source of protein. The lactic acid works to exfoliate and rejuvenate your skin.

Therefore, the kiwifruit and yogurt combination is guaranteed to make you a vitamin rich homemade facemask. The facemask is light and easy to make, which means you can make it on a weekly basis.

  • Add your oil and whisk again.

  • Wash with luke warm water.

To use the facemask as a scrub, you can add 1/2 tsp of cane sugar.  Just before you wash your face, gently massage the facemask so that the sugar can act as a face scrub.

Why Use Plain Flour in the Kiwifruit Facemask Recipe?

You will notice that the recipe asks for 1 teaspoon of plain flour. The mashed kiwi and yogurt makes the texture of the mask watery. Therefore, the flour will bind the liquid and make it easier to apply the mask in a paste form.
